Mankind approached us when we were spinning in his hometown Ulm. His plans and his ambitious character very quickly convinced us to agree in doing a tune for his then upcoming album. A couple of days later we sent him some very basic bits which he then recorded a couple of vocal tracks for. Mankind also handed us over that “Fantasy” sample. We recorded some guitars and built the final tune on top of that. The lyrics are IMO quite funny, so we tried to emphathize some parts of it, like the Outlook “new email notification” sound, when the lyrics go “Oh, post from dizplay”. There are a couple of similar things hidden, which you might find interesting and/or funny. To us, these kind of “easter eggs” are the bits we get a big grin to when hearing it loud in the club. It’s just something special.

We met French guy Knockoutz of m-Atome through the DSCI forum, the self-titled “World’s Premier Neurofunk Forum”. (This forum definitely is the communication hub of the Neurofunk headz, whereas the DSCI label’s sound meets that description only to some degree.) He’s, in contrast to other players in the biz, a very reliable and responsible person, so it’s a pleasure to work with him.

Both tunes are of a similar vein, with “Queen Of Night” being the track to open your set with. I think we’ve had a couple of months in which we basically opened every set with that one. But nonetheless, it still has to me this enormous power, starting with those epic strings and choir, and then morphing into a Noisia-esk Neurofunk mosher. Speaking of them, we were accused of using the very same sample they used in “Concussion”, but this is not the case, as we used this sound quite some time before we actually listened to Concussion for the first time. (Awesome tune BTW!) “El Gaucho” has come quite a way, being a different case study of ours, before we unfolded it to the bleeping roller it is now. I think both tunes very much contain our typical sound and aim straight to the floor.
