MIDI Guitar

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Having played the guitar for years, it still is the most “native” instrument for me. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always dreamt of using it in a more electronic way. Pat Metheny, jazz-rock half-god, uses this approach to create those eearie trademark sounds. I don’t know what exactly held me back, but here is another revised version of the MIDI guitar backend. Gotta check this out somewhere.

Mastering completed

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

My new album “Shift Happens” on Basswerk is near to completion. Mastering has been completed by TGM/The Green Man. Everything sounding crisp & punchy. Artwork is at 99%, too, so I’m sure things will enter physical production stage this week. Release date should be beginning of March. Audio coming soon.

Disquiet » Best of 2010: 10 Best Film Scores.

I’ve only seen a two of the movies listed, and for those (Inception, Social Network) I agree with the Disquiet post. But where is The Book Of Eli? And the “Monster Theme” by Jon Hopkins? But anyway, another cause to watch the movies I haven’t watched yet ;)

Behold! Return of the zombie!

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Ok, I admit, I’ve let Neurocode die. It didn’t do it intentionally, it just happened. Starting back in 2008, different things seemed much more important than music. And, to be honest, I was fed up with DnB. Long story short, I’ve cancelled my job as a consultant, joined a startup and just didn’t want to take part in what I felt was the ever-recurring DnB cycle.

Strangely enough, I tried to focus on building tracks on my own, without too much interruption from the regular DnB circus. I did listen to the Autonomic stuff and related mixes, but not much more. And this proved to be a reasonably wise approach for me. I think I’ve been able to improve as an artist, creating loads of tracks which evolved again and again until I was content. When Heiner, The Green Man, gave me an opportunity to play out that stuff at one of the Basswerk shows, I was highly anticipating the audiences response. Seemed they liked it as much as TGM, who after the show asked me whether I would like to do another album on Basswerk. Of course I did!

Early 2o11. Here we are. “Shift happens”. The title says it all. Just that much: It will be a double album, containing DnB and non-DnB tracks, remixes and vocal tracks. The album is currently being mastered by TGM himself and should soon see the light of day. Also, artwork looks gorgeous, thanks to mighty Tim Conduit.

I won’t promise staying busy, but typing currently feels good, so let’s hope for the best! I will soon update whatever makes sense at Neurocode ;)
