Resales as an incentive

The Kaiser Chiefs’ new album comes with a nice sales concept (thx, Tim): Based upon the album tracks, a dedicated website allows for visually/muscially reconstructing the album for your personal taste, resulting in a different website. After you have finished, you may buy the album by downloading from your site. Whatsmore, and here it gets interesting, the buyer may then resell his version using his generated album/website version, keeping a certain share of the revenues. The site also leverages viral mechanisms in the social media world.
While this may prove a concept difficult to copy without certain effort, it opens up a new path of making money with music – in a viral way!
What about mixing your own version of (single) tracks and artwork? Would this be something of interest? Or is it for die-hard fans only?
